Regular DTF Press Instructions
Step 1: Pre-Pressing the T-Shirt
This does not require to be a t-shirt of course, but whatever you're going to apply your DTF transfer to should be smooth. Any wrinkles will show up in the print! More importantly a Pre-Press will completely dry the material. You'd be surprised how much moisture fabric can absorb from humidity in the air, and that would affect print quality. Pre-Press 300°F 3-5 Seconds
Step 2: Applying the DTF Transfer
Once you've made a direct to film transfer you do NOT need to use it right away. Like most other kinds of transfers, they store well. That's why so my small businesses focus on just selling the transfers themselves! The film with the image and the melted powder is placed on the pre-pressed material in the heat press. You'll then heat press the transfer onto the shirt for 300°F-310°F for 10-12 seconds with Medium Pressure(60psi). 275°F for polyesters & as low as 260°F for sensitive fabrics.
Step 3: Peel DTF Transfer
Our transfers are an immediate HOT PEEL (sometimes will also peel itself when the platen lifts open).
NOTE* Some heat presses might not be calibrated correctly and can cause issues. If a heat press is at a temperature hotter than 320°F the coating on the DTF film can bond to the ink and cause issue by not peeling this film is built to be a HOT Instant Peel, if you have an issue with peeling lowering your heat press temperature between 260-285°F is recommended.
Step 4: Direct to Film Finishing Press
This is a crucial step, and you should definitely do it on every garment application. This cures the DTF Ink. Cover with parchment or teflon paper & Press at 300°F 4-5 Seconds
Specialty Film Press Instructions
1. Position Your Design
Take your time to line up your transfer in the desired location on your item. Normally, there is no need to use heat-resistant tape on flat heat presses to keep your design in place, however it is highly recommended when pressing transfers onto hats or when using an iron to keep the transfer in place. You’ll get a feel for when this is needed.
2. Press
Press your transfer with medium pressure at 266°F / 130°C - 284°F / 140°C for 13-16 seconds.
3. Let it Cool. Then Peel.
After pressing, let your transfer rest until it is cool to the touch (minimum of 60-120 seconds). Once cool, lift the transfer from one corner and gently peel back. The transfer should peel with little resistance. If not, stop peeling, lay it back down for a bit longer and try again.
4. Final Press
Place either parchment paper or teflon sheet over the design and press again for 10 seconds to soften the design, increase durability, and remove shine. If you want a shiny finish, cover with a protective guard sheet for the final press. When washing, flip shirt inside out, wash on cold and dry using low heat or hang.
